The ABS Ultimate X9 comes with a 256 NVIDIA GeForce graphics card that will make your games come to life.
This is the least expensive computer for $1599; however, it doesn’t come with a mouse, keyboard, monitor or speakers. Plan to spend a minimum of $460 dollars for the peripherals. For the price, the Gold, Silver or Bronze gaming PC packages offer more.
Processor:
This ABS comes with a 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 processor with a 1066 MHz front side bus. The dual processor will run multiple programs without hindering performance.
Memory:
This system comes standard with 1 GB of RAM and a 250 GB hard drive. The RAM is adequate for most games but if you plan on upgrading to Vista, most people recommend two gigabytes.
Video/Audio:
The 256 MB NVIDIA GeForce graphics card is adequate for most games. This system has a PCI Express expansion.
The Ultimate X8 has integrated 8–channel C–media audio to make your games sound as good as they look.
I/O Device:
The base price doesn’t include a monitor, mouse or keyboard. This is OK if you have the peripherals and are just looking for a new tower. If not, plan on spending some extra money for a complete package.
Value/Price:
The price is good at $1599. After adding the peripherals to create a complete package, you’ll be just over $2,000 (depending on your selection of peripherals).
Support/Warranty:
The fist time we used the live support it produced a never-ending cascading window that was difficult to end. We ended up having to shut down our computer. The second time around, the live chat was fast and provided useful information. You can also contact customer service via phone and email.
Summary:
This is an adequate gaming computer that comes in a sleek black case with a cool blue backlight, but your money will go further with a different manufacturer.
