Cyber Snipa Tracer Mouse Pad Review

Cyber Snipa Tracer Mouse Pad

One of the most under-rated and overlooked computer accessories is the mouse pad. For the everyday office worker and gamer alike, a mouse pad can improve comfort and precision as well as increase your ability to work and play for longer periods of time. For gamers, if you’re going to the expense of buying a specialized mouse you may as well fork over the extra money for a decent pad. At a $29.99 SRP, you not only get a good mouse surface on the Cyber Snipa Tracker Mouse Pad, but a blue neon light show that can be adjusted to taste/mood.

The Tracker Mouse Pad measures 305mm wide, 230mm long and is 5mm thick (or thin). It’s an average sized surface and is slightly thicker due to the acrylic glass and tech required to house the lights. The feet on the bottom grip many surfaces well and limit sliding while fragging your opponents. The pad’s edges, Cyber Snipa logo and arrow through the Tracker logo illuminate blue via a dimmer dial found on the USB 1.1 cord.

While the hard, black, textured surface of the Tracker is nothing new or innovative, the included blue lightshow adds a little spice. The blue accent can be just that – an accent – or it can be cranked up to help your monitor illuminate your desk in a dark room so you can see the keys as you type (assuming you don’t have a backlit keyboard). Either way, the blue lights add a little flare to your mouse pad in the same way that LED lights add flare to your computer case - they don’t DO anything, but they sure look cool!

Style comes at a small cost. Tracker owners must sacrifice a USB 1.1 or USB 2.0 port and are forced to weave an additional cord through the web of wires and onto your desktop. Yes, you might have to unplug your USB beverage cooler or your USB rechargeable R/C Helicopter to free up one of your ports, but your mouse surface is more important, right?

The combination of Cyber Snipa’s Tracer Mouse Pad and Stinger Laser Gaming Mouse make for EXTREMELY smooth operation. The mouse glides effortlessly across the textured surface without a sound. In fact, I had to add some additional weight to the Stinger mouse in order to keep my cursor accurate.

If the light show, $29.99 price tag, sacrifice of a USB port, or dealing with one more cord is too much for you to handle, most hard-surfaced mouse pads with a light texture will serve you equally. I recommend the $9.99, double-sided Zero Gamers Mat from HandStands.com.
